Mojdeh Saleh is a longtime student of The School of Practical Philosophy. She has a B.S. degree in Graphic Design and has worked in the field of advertising and design for several years.

In recent years her focus has been on fine art and she has studied figure drawing and portrait painting. She is passionate about art and would like to share the joy she feels with others. I have asked Mojdeh to offer a class in drawing at our School for those of us who are interested.

I am the first to sign up.

This is what Mojdeh says about the role of art in her life: “I find I am at peace when I paint or draw. It is perhaps the easiest place in my life for tuning out the busy thoughts and just being in the moment. I would like to share this feeling of fulfillment. Let me help you get in touch with your creative side. Set aside any ideas about your relationship to art; no previous experience in drawing or philosophy is needed.

We will begin our sessions by pausing and clearing our mind, we will be reminded to allow the creative energy to flow through us by keeping our attention where the working surfaces meet.
To free us up, we will practice leaving behind judgment of ourselves and others and giving up any expectations of producing a masterpiece! In each class we will be given useful techniques to help us express what we see. Each person will draw differently and that is the beauty of art.

Our medium will be watercolor pencils; supplies will be provided at a charge of $15.

You are requested to arrive 10 minutes early to set up.

Details

Fridays: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Starting April 20th 2012

Course Fee: $120 (plus $15 supply fee) for eight weekly sessions

Location: 5960 Stoneridge Drive, Pleasanton

Please email Mariam Safinia if you would like to register for this class, or call (925) 828 8695

The Winter Term nears its end and the Spring Term Timetable is now ready.

It would be much appreciated if you could sign up for next term in the few remaining sessions of this term and receive your gift of a free CD as an early bird incentive. Early registration is necessary so we know how many to expect in each class next term and can plan accordingly.

Also, please mark the start of term talk in your calendars; this is planned for April 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the School – an invitation will follow in due course. It is a great occasion to introduce friends and family to our School.

Love to you all, Mariam

<itunes:summary>We all want to be happy. Yet the stresses of daily life, the events in the world around us, and the ceaseless stream of our own thoughts, seem to always undermine, if not entirely extinguish, our ability to experience real lasting happiness. This talk was given by Mariam Safinia of the School of Practical Philosophy in California.
